Smart-Bomb Kill

Urban Vietnam

Baby Bush’s Holy War:

western values

friends of Yahweh’s

promise of Palestine

for pillage

strategic interests

the price of oil

Democracy is synonymous

with our way of life

the world is wrong

‘they are either with us or

they are against us’

a war that will pay for itself

my country according to Fox

Sadam and Iraq did it!

America -

single super power

to the world’s way of life

country boys howl, but

the Dixie Chicks were right!

We played video games

with smart bombs

shock and awe

stealth and Abrams M1As

we called them cowards

when they wouldn’t

stand up to die with AK47s

in the open of desert terrain

Devoid of history

recent or recorded

we heard jingoistic lies

we forget Stalingrad,

Ticonderoga and Yorktown,

Saigon, and lost crusades

so now an urban Viet Nam

consumes our loved and

worthy youth

as servants of the brave;

American, three thousand dead

American, twenty some thousand maimed

This for a misguided miscreant’s

new world order

with it’s first strikes

grains of truth

and riche of reason and rights

Truth has always shown us

(and now you)

most liberators are but conquerors

when viewed in a rearview mirror.

We didn’t have

an al-Qaeda problem in Iraq

when we ignored the advice

of the world,

but when,

and as we inevitably must,

we leave with our dead, our platitudes,

and our flag firm over our shoulders

seen fluttering between our burdened strides;

it will be to fingers and stones

and jeers of a mad rabble left behind

sucking on the nectar

of a dead schizophrenic’s holy words

now, corrupted in a hate of honour

oil, and blood and clan.

We didn’t have

an al-Qaeda problem in Iraq

when we ignored the advice

of the world,

but know,

for well and for certain,

- we sure as the hell do now!!
