A Gorean Apology

The men of Gor are said to be `real men`, men uncorrupted by the degeneration of those living the life of feminine dominated 'whimps' and pawns to the, industrialized, politically correct, socially corrupted earth culture. They are said to be 'noble' and above the misuse of their dominant, free primal, nature ordained power. Yet, the books of Gor (of which [in plumbing the mind and timeline of Lang] I have read all twenty five of the commercially published ones up to 1988; and, half [plus the end] of his self published, sonorous, unmoving, endlessly reiterative, devoid of either ideas or decent writing [writing which seemed emanate instead from a tired and bankrupt old man drooling and passing gas in the less than coherent state between slumber and imagined wakefulness] plotless bomb of 2001), are teaming full of all kinds of Goreans, including the most diabolically evil of villains - go figure. Adherence to a Trumpeteer or Nazi embracing of the Sci-fi idealization of Gor or, a Gorean Adam and Eve, is no different than being caught on the same barbed wire redoubts erected of small selectively propagandized minds. In the author's soft porn, 'Sword and Sorcery` idealism, in its illumination and unmasking of sexual repression, it is nonetheless, a discriminatory misunderstanding and presentation of the broad underpinnings of cultural institutions, a voiding of a true and evolving humanity, a selective misunderstanding made of misuse of both history and Darwinism and, an imagined nobility of the strongest sword and whip wielding bully being the pinnacle of an Orwellian and Hobbesian Pandorian Utopia. Using but a single differential biological window of observation and then, pushing with pedantic unquestioned faith through it into conclusions of social Darwinism and Nietzschean class (which he uses in its centrality and extreme), Sci-fi, Gorean allows for a total denial of a morally, socially or, a spiritually oriented, ethical responsibility. Instead, it condones and nurtures a myth centered on a biological order of a nature ordained, uncorrupted, lethally armed and war wielding nobility of Gorean men (where economic loss of or, damage to, his human property taken into consideration, further `most often usually` mitigates in favour of what we normally take for correct behavior) which of course (taken in sum) assures a virtuous outcome of an undisputed victor. Taken literally, it totally allows for an unrestrained and dehumanized behavior based on an enforced status of those underfoot. Animals on Gor had no ASPCA or status in law and, the enslaved had no more rights than animals. The enslaved of a literal Sci-fi Gorean have neither rights nor recognized humanity. On Gor, Ted Bundy, John Gacy and, Robert Rhoades would, with the formalities of a few minor waiting rules, all be free to roam in a safe haven.

Some have broken Urth Goreans into two boxes; on-line dabblers who role play and, more serious`lifestylers` adhering to the Sacrament of Gorean precepts and its philosophical underpinnings. Although many who embrace the lifestyle most often deny it, it is most often simply the concise shorthand but slippery slope of a D/s form with a liturgical dogma containing the postulations arising from the philosophical lamentations (or presented as such for personal control) of a world seen out of order and in need of correction in the declared truer riche made of a natural order of things [can't help but chuckle, kinda' like "Flood the Swamp with Invasive Species and Make Earth Great Again"].

There are however, exceptions to be found. I take myself as one. It is an 'Ethical-Gorean' I choose at will. It is a humanism of heart with a patient humour made of the Gorean language with its histrionics of simplicity; used when, where and, if appropriate as is circumstantially seen fit. Leaving aside digressing to any applied Skinner behaviorism or bridgings of unresolvable social impasses in interactions of communication and behavior, regardless, ultimately where all involved are consensually on the same page, it can be in fact an exquisite short hand of understanding and a theatre of gaity in the undertaking of roles for the combined accomplishment of openly expressed objectives. By drawing from the understanding of Gorean individuality and where one sees or recognizes themself most at ease as it relates to the domain of human theatre of the heart; and then communicating it on these occasions in a simplicity of Gorean referencing, yes, I can arbitrarily attempted be tainted in the expansiveness of an all encompassing label. Regardless and, but no and categorically so; I am not and I repudiate being called or identified as a Sci-fi or book litteral, tome thumping Gorean nor, am I a lifestyler wrapped in the restraints of that ISM'ing. At most, any use of Gorean referencing and incorporation in a clarity of theatre is simply an Ethical-Gorean simplification of, with good intent, directing oneself purposely and efficiently forward amongst others of amenable company. At its least, it is an Ethical-Gorean which steadfastly disputes and denies the literal kant and rant of a sci-fi Heavenly Gate based on the pseudo-logic of a disgruntled, spiritually void, offbase academic. As an Ethical-Gorean definition of understanding, it goes completely beyond any attempt at a pigeon-holing one in the unredeeming catchall of an unmitigated, literalist Gorean cult, tribally bound to its sub-cultural doctrines.
